A Review of my experience with Zecco.com so far

Recently a new online discount stock brokerage opened its doors with a new kind of business model. FREE. Yes zero cost commissions (that is what Zecco stands for). When I first heard about it I was researching out a new discount brokerage for trading stocks. I was with Firsttrade and I felt a $6.95 commission was a little much and so I started looking around to see if i could find a better price and found Zecco quite by accident. At first I was really excited because free is a pretty good price, but then alarm bells started going off. I was afraid that this must be one of those two good to be true scams. So I read up on it for a few hours looking through reviews of Zecco on blogs and forums to see what others had to say. From the reading of the reviews this is the impression that I got about Zecco – That it was in fact a legit brokerage with actually fee free trading, but there where two downsides, first due to their low overhead I would have to put up with poor customer service and second it seemed like a lot of people have had problems funding their account.

Despite the warnings of the mentioned downsides in the reviews I read, I decided I would give Zecco a try, and review my experience. Heck I've dealt with poor customer service from online business pretty much all my life so I figured free commissions would be worth the hassle.

I just entered in my first trade with Zecco, and to my amazement I had none of the problems described in the online reviews I read. The level of hassle of opening and funding my account was well within a acceptable range. I opened the account on the 11th and today is the 18th. Opening the account was pretty easy, the hardest thing was figuring out what my “Trading Key” was. It was different than the password you use to sign on. (They give you instructions hidden in one of your email to figure out your trading key). I even had a problem with my ACH transfer and email the customer support and received an answer within a day addressing my problem. So all in all my final review of Zecco so far is two thumbs up. Im really quite impressed with the whole thing. I mean free stocks trading that really works how can you beat that?

I will update this review after I have been trading with Zecco for a few months.

--- Just a quick update, I have been with zecco now for 6 months, and have had a pretty good experiance. I have contacted customer support on a few occasions with questions and they, responded. They have changed the number of free trades you get however. It is now 10 free trades a month if you have over $2500 in your account and each trade after that is $4.50 if I remember correctly. Still, overall for me 10 trades a month is enough for my trading style, and for the price of free, you just can beat it. I reccomned zecco for anyone who is looking for ultra cheap low volume trading.
